Mormon Dodger Night.

Mormon Dodger Night was held on June 28, 2013. It was a good time as it always is!  Everyone in attendance enjoyed cheering for the Dodgers and talking to each other. Elder Jeffery R. Holland threw the first pitch this year and everyone was able to watch the fireworks after the game.

Primary Pajama Breakfast

On January 12, 2013 the Primary held a Pajama Breakfast for the children to meet and get to know their new teachers for the year. It is always exciting to advance to a new class. Christmas Party!

Everyone enjoying the food!

The ward's Christmas Party was a huge success. It was fiesta themed and we had delicious Mexican food catered. After everyone was able to enjoy the food and the desserts that ward members brought, there was a cute Christmas program with members singing, reading poems, and the primary putting on a nativity scene and singing. We also had a special guest, SANTA! He brought the children a special treat.

Yum!

Relief Society Christmas Breakfast!

On December 1, the relief society held a breakfast for the sisters. The event also included a few small crafts themed around Christmas. Many different sisters brought food. The meal turned out delicious with cinnamon rolls, bagels, quiche, and fresh fruit. Sister Staples taught a short workshop on making gift tags (Photo above). Sister Walker had many examples of adorable homemade greeting cards, and Sister McDonough supplied an ornament craft. The breakfast was fun and offered lots of time to talk and cement relationships with the sisters.

Halloween!

Kids enjoying their bounty!
Santa Monica First Ward sure knows how to throw a party! The Halloween party was no exception. We were combined with the Santa Monica Second ward on the Saturday before Halloween. The trunk-or-treat was held at the SM1 building and Parking lot. There were many families who decorated their trunks for the trunk-or treat. They were all very creative and fun. The dinner was delicious with carnival style food like hot dogs, chips, and lots of treats! Nearly everyone there was dressed up. The costumes were all lively and fun! All of the children left with bags of candy bursting at the seams. no one left disappointed.

The Youth Spaghetti Fundraiser was very profitable!

The youth of Santa Monica First Ward held a fundraiser on October 13 in order to raise money for the coming year's activities. It was successful to say the least. Most of the ward members donated goods and services to be auctioned off at the dinner. Nearly all of the items were purchased and all of the serviced were bid on, some numbering the the hundreds of dollars. The auction was done 2 ways. First was a silent auction where people wrote down bids on different items, second was a traditional auction where members battled to win many excellent services. There was also a guest artist who donated her time to draw portraits of anyone willing to donate $10. The dinner it's self was served for a donation of $5. The youth and youth leaders did a spectacular job of putting the event together. Everyone in attendance had a great time.

Most of the ward came to support the youth.
